Nadine Penelton Bradshaw Scholarship

Fall of 2018

The Edwardsville Community Foundation is pleased to announce the Nadine Penelton Bradshaw Scholarship Fund, an annual scholarship that will provide $1,000 to an area graduating senior who will attend an accredited trade or vocational school.

Steve Mudge established the fund on behalf of an anonymous donor to honor Mrs. Nadine Penelton Bradshaw. Mrs. Bradshaw was a member of a prominent Edwardsville family, a lifelong resident, and a graduate of the Historic Lincoln School in Edwardsville. She was a founding charter member of the Historic Lincoln School Alumni Foundation, where she served in several leadership positions.

“Nadine was active in promoting the value of education to all the children in the community,” said Herman Shaw, President of the Historic Lincoln School Alumni Foundation.

Nadine was also an active member of the Wesley Chapel AME Church and had various leadership positions in the congregation. She has two sons, Morris and Terry, both graduates of Edwardsville High School. She enjoyed sports, especially bowling, and loved watching the Oakland Raiders. She had an open heart for people from all walks of life. “Mrs. Bradshaw touched many lives and was a positive influence to everyone who knew her,” said Mudge.

“A scholarship will be a lasting tribute to her memory.”

Bradshaw Scholarship applications will be available this fall

at Edwardsville High School, Father McGivney, and Metro East Lutheran School for students interested in pursuing a vocation or trade career.
