WHO WE ARE

The Edwardsville Community Foundation, ECF, was established in 1997 by a group of local business and community leaders. They founded the ECF to create an organization where people could donate money that would directly impact the quality of life in the local communities.

The ECF operates as a charitable trust that receives, manages and distributes tax-deductible charitable contributions for the benefit of the residents living in the local communities as defined by the Edwardsville School District 7. Since its inception in 1997, The ECF has distributed more than $5.9 million to charitable causes.

What is a Community Foundation?

A Community Foundation is a charitable organization that may administer a number of funds primarily for local purposes, to solve community or regional problems and improve the lives of people in their geographic area.

The Edwardsville Community Foundation (ECF) is a charitable trust that receives, manages, and distributes tax-deductible charitable contributions for the benefit of the greater Edwardsville area communities and its residents.

Who administers The Foundation’s affairs?

The affairs of The Foundation are governed by a volunteer Board of Directors, all of whom serve without pay. Each director is a local resident appointed to the Board because of demonstrated concern for the future of the Edwardsville area.

What are the sources of The Foundation funds?

The Foundation accepts contributions from private citizens, local businesses, and other organizations interested in serving the charitable needs of the area. The Foundation has been certified by the Internal Revenue Service as 501 (c) (3) organization.  As a result, contributions are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.

How will my donation be used?

There are many options for giving. You may advise the Board of Directors regarding specific projects or organizations you choose to fund. A contribution to the General Fund authorizes the Board to distribute your contribution as the Board deems appropriate in response to grant requests or to meet obvious charitable needs. You may want to consider the establishment of a Donor Advised Fund within the Foundation.
